Meet the teachers of Anacrusis Music :

Shane Statz   is our woodwind teacher and jazz band director.

Shane runs the Summer Improvisation Program , Jazz Combo, Wind Ensemble and Sax Quartet. Shane studied saxophone, flute and clarinet at Humber College of Performing Arts in Toronto where he received his degree in performance. Shane has performed with many notable names including Rob McConnel, Maria Schneider, Hilario Duran, Don Thompson, Pat LaBarbera, Art Maiste, Ted Quinlan, Tim Tamashiro, and Johnny Summers. Shane runs his own group called Continuum. He's also a member of the Calgary Jazz Orchestra,and the Prime Time big band. Shane has been teaching woodwinds for over 18 years. Jacquie Walker  teaches drums, guitar and composition. She has been teaching for over 18 years!

Jacquie runs Rock Bands, Percussion Ensembles and Guitar Clubs. She received her education in Toronto at Humber College of Performing Arts and has continued her musical studies at the highSCORE music festival in Italy, a residency through Memorial University in St.John's NFLD and with Quatuor Bozzini (string quartet) in Montreal.  Jacquie's performing and recording credits include freelance work with: The Toronto Symphony Orchestra, The Toronto All-Star Big Band, The Canadian Opera Company, Calgary Civic Symphony, Ralph Buschmeyer, Simon Fisk, Greg Cockerill and Shane Statz.  Jacquie is currently composing classical music for a variety of groups throughout Canada. Ashton lal teaches guitar and bass

Born in Calgary, Ashton has been playing guitar since the young age of 13. He has studied Classical guitar with Paul O'Dette and is comfortable playing electric and classical guitar as well as bass. When Ashton isn't teaching he is busy gigging on guitar with his band Road Krew and bass with Outlets Band.

Grazia Motta teaches Voice

Grazia started her musical studies when she was 8 (piano and solfeggio) and when she was 11 years old she enrolled at the Conservatory of Music in Italy (Harp and Classic Singing). Grazia got her diplomas with the best votes and later she attended for three years an advanced course in Opera singing with a famous Italian Baritone. She has attended various Seminars and Laboratory about different musical styles (jazz, musical theater, blues, rock, classic, r&b) and she has sung in many concerts and shows as a soloist, backing vocalist and as a member of an opera choir. In 1991 she began to teach singing in various modern music schools in north of Italy and in 2012 she moved to Calgary with her family, where she continues to transfer her passion and experiences.


Jason Cillo teaches Guitar

Jason is an active member of the Calgary music scene. When he's not busy performing with his bands I am the Mountain and Natural 20. He is also a sought after freelance blue and jazz musician. Jason received his education through private study with Ralph Buschmeyer and the University of Calgary.

Lachlan Cowan teaches Drums and Percussion

Lachlan is in his second year of substitute teaching at the studio. He has completed the Grade 8 RCM repertoire in percussion and has also won Gold level placements at the Kiwanis Music Festival for snare drum. When not busy teaching or competitive skateboarding, Lacklan can be seen performing with his band, GIN.
